Position Overview

The Tree Climber / Groundsman at Center Cut is responsible for supporting the Arbor Division in completing tree care and pruning services safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strong technical climbing skills, attention to safety, and reliability. The position also serves as a backup driver, ensuring safe transportation of crew members, equipment, and materials between job sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform tree climbing, pruning, and general arbor work using proper techniques to promote tree health and meet client expectations.
• Safely tie knots, set rigging systems, and operate climbing equipment in accordance with industry standards.
• Assist with brush removal, chipping operations, and maintaining clean and organized job sites.
• Follow all safety protocols and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Immediately report any safety concerns, incidents, or hazards to the Supervisor.
• Support daily equipment inspections and assist with routine maintenance of tools, climbing gear, and arbor equipment.
• Help maintain cleanliness and organization of the arbor truck (minimum once per week standard).
• Safely operate company vehicles, chipper trucks, and equipment when assigned.
• Maintain a clean driving record and follow all company driving and safety policies.
• Assist with loading, securing, and transporting tools, materials, and equipment between job sites.
• Accurately clock in/out and assist with completing assigned tasks in Aspire daily.
• Support job documentation, including photos and reporting issues observed on-site.
• Communicate effectively with Crew Leader and team members regarding job progress, concerns, or needs.
• Maintain a respectful, professional attitude with coworkers, supervisors, and clients at all times.
• Maintain consistent attendance and reliability, arriving on time and ready to work each day.
• Follow direction from the Supervisor to ensure jobs are completed efficiently and to company standards.

Qualifications

• Previous tree climbing or arbor experience required.
• Knowledge of basic arboriculture practices, pruning techniques, and equipment use.
• Ability to safely operate chainsaws, chippers, and climbing gear.
• Understanding of safety practices, PPE usage, and hazard awareness.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (required).
• Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and maintain a strong work ethic.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor as needed.
• Standing, walking, bending, lifting, and operating equipment for extended periods.

Pay: $18.00 - $29.00 per hour
