Arbor Groundsman
Shinto Landscaping is searching for an Arbor Groundman to support our tree division. This position will perform a variety of arboriculture tasks, which may include any combination of the following: removing dead trees; trimming and pruning existing trees; maintaining tools and equipment, and ensuring hazard-free work areas. Outstanding groundsmen should be able to carry out instructions efficiently and complete all maintenance tasks to the highest standard.
Responsibilities:
- Work effectively in precarious positions and heights above ground
- Trims and prunes trees according to established standards and procedures using chainsaws, polesaws, power pole pruners and chippers.
- Manage ground duties during pruning and removal operations such as lowering limbs with ropes, keeping climber’s rope free of debris, communication with aerial trimmer and timing of brush removal and protection of others from entering drop zone
- Assists in the removal of dead or otherwise hazardous trees.
- Loads debris and refuse onto trucks and haul it away for disposal.
- Use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes.
- Gather and removes litter.
- Operate vehicles and powered equipment, such as chippers, mowers, tractors, chain saws, power trimmers, and pruning saws, and stump removal machines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as an Arbor Groundsman is strongly preferred
- Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record and ability to pass pre-employment background and drug screening; must be at least 21 years old
- Able to perform tasks under adverse/extreme weather conditions.
- Able to lift 100 pounds and maneuver 200 pounds with the assistance of arbor equipment and able to frequently climb, lift, balance, walking, kneel, stoop, and handle materials.
- The ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
