Arch Flash/Control Design Technician

Job description:

We’re seeking an Arc Flash / Control Design Technician to support the development, documentation, and accuracy of electrical system designs. This role partners closely with engineers and project teams to produce detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and one‑line drawings while also contributing to arc flash studies, field data collection, and compliance reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and revise electrical drawings including schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and one‑line diagrams.
  • Collaborate with engineers to maintain documentation such as BOMs, cable schedules, and panel layouts.
  • Translate design concepts into detailed drawings using AutoCAD or similar software.
  • Manage drawing revisions, maintain as‑built documentation, and support revision control.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to ensure design accuracy.
  • Participate in design review meetings and contribute to technical discussions.
  • Track and manage design deliverables to meet deadlines and quality expectations.
  • Assist with arc flash hazard analyses using tools such as EasyPower or SKM.
  • Collect field data to support accurate electrical system modeling.
  • Develop and interpret one‑line drawings for power distribution and arc flash analysis.
  • Generate reports and labeling to support NFPA 70E compliance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or technical diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1–3 years of electrical drafting or design experience, preferably in industrial or construction environments.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD; experience with AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN preferred.
  • Understanding of electrical systems, schematics, and industrial control panels.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Familiarity with electrical documentation such as wiring diagrams, panel layouts, BOMs, and cable schedules.
  • Exposure to power system analysis software (EasyPower, SKM) is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across engineering and project teams.
  • Willingness to visit field sites as needed for data collection or verification.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
