Architectural Designer

We are currently seeking a motivated Architect, either licensed or an experienced unlicensed professional, to lead our ADU Design & Permitting efforts. This position is remote, preferably within Southern California or elsewhere in the State, and is offered on a full-time basis, though we are open to part-time arrangements. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and licensure.

As an innovative online ADU firm based in San Diego, we are dedicated to enhancing housing accessibility throughout Southern California. Our firm manages all pre-construction needs for homeowners and investors, streamlining the process from design to permit approval. While we currently outsource specialized engineering services, our growth strategy includes bringing these functions in-house.

The selected Architect will oversee our Design & Permitting stages, transforming client visions into tangible realities. Responsibilities include managing a small drafting team, coordinating project design with external consultants, and securing permit approvals.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing design leadership by developing and reviewing ADU design concepts, primarily for Group R-3 single-family residential projects.
• Managing the full permitting process, including the creation of plans and their submission to local municipalities.
• Supervising a draftsman and coordinating with external engineers to ensure seamless project progression.
• Ensuring all designs fully comply with the California Building Codes and local zoning laws.

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

• A licensed Architect in California or an unlicensed professional possessing substantial residential design and permitting experience within California.
• Familiarity with Revit is highly desirable but not requird
• A strong background in residential projects (Group R-3, some R-2)
• A passion for housing and community development.
• A commitment to ownership and pride in delivering quality work.
• Comfort working in a primarily remote environment, with occasional in-person work as required.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
