SUMMARY

Due to the overwhelming demands of the organization, we are adding to the team! The Architectural Designer is responsible for the creation of designs and executable plans for the completion of specified projects. The successful candidate for this position should be professional, outgoing, and assertive, while also being accurate and detail oriented. This individual should be skilled in architectural design functions, as well as proficient in design software, and must possess a high-level understanding of building codes and product knowledge.

In addition to design responsibilities, this position may also include estimating duties, such as reviewing project plans and specifications to develop material and labor estimates, collaborating with vendors for pricing, and assisting in ensuring cost accuracy during the design and planning phases.

The individual should demonstrate effective team skills, be extremely passionate about their career, promote excellent client relations, and contribute to the efficiency and profitability of each project through both design and estimating collaboration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Interact and collaborate effectively with all levels of the JRB team, including designers, estimators, project manager, accounting and office management staff and field employees.

· Communicate design items and completed projects to leadership.

· Meet DAILY with President to provide updates and identify concerns.

· Help to ensure clients have a positive experience with Jim Reif Builders.

· Complete assigned projects in accordance with established timelines.

· Communicate deviations from scheduled timelines to avoid delays and negative impacts of project completion.

· Operate as an involved and effective member of the JRB design team.

· Provide effective and innovative designs to address client needs.

· Respond effectively to change requests and plan revisions.

· Seek to apply appropriate interpretation of building codes to all design efforts.

· Seek to apply project knowledge to design efforts to achieve maximum effectiveness.

· Prepare designs and related details with extreme accuracy.

· Collaborate with the estimating team to review plans and ensure accuracy of material quantities and pricing.

· Develop preliminary cost projections or assist in preparing estimates for client proposals.

· Suggest changes and improvements to existing designs to enhance constructability and cost efficiency.

· Meet with clients, gather information, review construction documents, understand scope of work, then develop a detailed Scope of Work along with CAD drawings for the proposed project so it can go to the bid stage. Conduct on-site measuring as required.

· Conduct on-site measuring and walk throughs with trade contractors.

· Execute take-offs of construction documents.

· Input take-offs into digital spreadsheet.

· Obtain pricing for materials.

· Obtain bids from subcontractors.

· Review trade contractor estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy.

· Prepare specifications for presentation to client.

· Deliver the specifications and construction contract to clients with a high degree of confidence and passion to be able to sell them on our company values.

· The duties are not limited to the information listed above, additional work and responsibilities may be required to be completed as part of normal duties of the job.

· Interact with clients to provide professional guidance and create designs to exceed client needs and expectations.

· Oversee and coordinate selections for projects; work with JRB staff to ensure timely selections are being made.

· Effectively communicate with clients to support selection process.

· Develop knowledge of available products to effectively execute and support selection process.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

· Support Company staff by taking on additional tasks as needed/requested

· Assist in operations of the Parade of Homes event

· Provide estimating or cost input for marketing and promotional materials when needed.

SKILLS AND COMPTENCIES

· Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, email), CAD and 3D design software

· Experience with or willingness to learn estimating software and cost analysis tools.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Knowledge of building codes.

· Strong organizational skills; schedule-driven.

· Ability to work under pressure

Education and Experience

Associate Degree in Architectural Design.

Language Skills

Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Write correspondence. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform the job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS WORD and EXCEL software, e-mail software, and CAD software.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $35.00 per hour
