Position Summary
The Architectural Designer transforms creative concepts into immersive branded environments that blend storytelling, aesthetic design, and technical detail. Working at the intersection of design and fabrication, this role engages in the design process from concept through installation, ensuring creative vision aligns with budget, schedule, and client expectations. The Architectural Designer collaborates with Design team, Project Management, Engineering, Fabrication, and Logistics teams while also engaging directly with clients and vendors to deliver innovative, functional, and visually compelling spaces. This role is accountable for ensuring projects are delivered on time, on target, on budget—with no unpleasant surprises.
Responsibilities & Accountability
1. Concept Development & Creative Exploration
- Research, brainstorm, and prototype design ideas with interdisciplinary teams.
- Develop and present creative concepts, mood boards, and visual references that align with client brand and project goals.
- Contribute to internal and client-facing pitch development, ensuring proposals are on-brand and visually compelling.
2. Design Documentation & Technical Execution
- Produce high-quality design documentation across concept, design development, engineering, build, and logistic phases.
- Prepare design intent documents that clearly communicate creative direction and technical requirements.
- Research all codes and regulations to support the design intent.
3. Project Collaboration & Production Oversight
- Work with Project Management, Engineering, Fabrication, and Logistics to ensure design integrity throughout production.
- Support fabrication processes internally and with external vendors, maintaining alignment with design vision.
- Guide projects through production and installation phases with attention to detail and brand consistency.
4. Client Engagement & Communication
- Collaborate with Client Services to manage design needs, brand objectives, and delivery timelines.
- Lead and participate in client presentations, reviews, and approvals throughout the design process.
- Maintain strong communication with clients, ensuring clarity and confidence in design solutions.
5. Leadership & Cultural Contribution
- Contribute to collaborative studio culture through brainstorming, critique, and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to the team by modeling creative excellence, technical rigor, and professional accountability.
- Support RGI’s culture of creativity and innovation by exploring emerging design tools, technologies, and trends.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, or Environmental Design
- 3+ years of experience bringing projects from concept through production
- Strong portfolio demonstrating creative design and technical execution across multiple mediums
- Proficiency with Rhino, Enscape (Chaos), and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Proven 3d renderings and animations using Rhino and Enscape (Chaos).
- Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple projects
- Strong communication skills, including client-facing presentations and collaborative teamwork
Preferred:
- Experience in experiential, exhibit, or branded environment design
- Knowledge of fabrication processes, materials, and vendor coordination
- Strong proofreading and attention to detail for design deliverables
- Willingness to travel up to 20% for site surveys, installations, and client meetings
