Overview
Donegan Design is seeking a full-time Residential Architect or Interior Designer who can independently manage residential projects from initial design through permit documents.
This is a client-facing position for someone who enjoys both design and technical production. You will lead client meetings, develop design concepts, coordinate project requirements, and produce residential construction documents in Revit.
The ideal candidate is organized, confident communicating with clients, and comfortable taking ownership of multiple projects in a growing residential architecture firm.
Responsibilities
- Manage residential projects from initial consultation through permit submission
- Lead client meetings, design presentations, and project coordination calls
- Develop thoughtful and functional designs for custom homes, additions, renovations, and ADUs
- Create architectural models and construction documents in Revit
- Prepare floor plans, elevations, building sections, details, schedules, and presentation materials
- Coordinate with structural engineers, MEP consultants, contractors, surveyors, and other project partners
- Review zoning, building code, and permitting requirements
- Respond to client questions and provide regular project updates
- Incorporate client, consultant, and permitting comments into the drawings
- Maintain project schedules and communicate potential delays or coordination issues
- Assist with interior layouts, finish selections, cabinetry, lighting, and material coordination when applicable
- Perform quality-control reviews before drawings are issued
Qualifications
- Professional degree or equivalent experience in architecture, interior architecture, interior design, or a related field
- Strong proficiency in Revit
- Experience producing residential construction documents
- Ability to independently organize and manage projects
- Strong design, communication, and presentation skills
- Comfortable leading meetings and communicating directly with homeowners
- Understanding of residential construction methods and detailing
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to take ownership of your work
Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of professional architecture or interior design experience
- Experience with custom homes, residential additions, renovations, or ADUs
- Familiarity with the Florida Building Code and local permitting processes
- Experience working with contractors and engineering consultants
- Experience with Enscape or other architectural visualization software
- Architectural license, NCIDQ certification, or progress toward professional licensure
Professional licensure is valued but is not required for the right candidate.

This position is best suited for someone who wants meaningful responsibility and the opportunity to grow with a small firm. You will have ownership of your projects while working directly with the firm’s principal and other team members.
