Architectural Draftsman

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Design Draftsman with a strong background in cabinetry, joinery, and interior fit-out drawings. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of seven years of hands-on drafting experience, with excellent technical knowledge of materials, hardware, fabrication methods, and site coordination. This role requires precision, creativity, and the ability to translate concepts into detailed, production-ready technical drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate and detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings for custom cabinets, wardrobes, kitchens, vanities, and bespoke joinery items.
• Develop shop drawings, assembly details, cutting lists, and material specifications for production.
• Collaborate closely with designers, project managers, and workshop teams to ensure drawings meet design intent, site conditions, and manufacturing standards.
• Review architectural drawings, site measurements, and client requirements to produce practical and optimised solutions.
• Coordinate revisions and updates throughout the design, approval, and fabrication process.
• Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards, building codes, and internal quality procedures.
• Maintain organised documentation and version control across all drafting files.
• Provide technical support during installation phases and address drawing-related queries.

Requirements:

• Minimum 7 years of experience as a Draftsman in a cabinets, joinery, or interior fit-out business.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of SketchUp, Inventor, or similar 3D software is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of joinery fabrication methods, materials (MDF, plywood, veneers, solid wood, etc.), and hardware systems.
• Ability to read, interpret, and produce detailed technical drawings with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach to design challenges.
• Experience working directly with workshop and production teams is preferred.

Education:

• Diploma or degree in Drafting, Architectural Engineering, Interior Design, or a related field (preferred but not essential with strong experience).
