Who you are

You’re a hands-on forestry professional who’s comfortable in the field and confident managing day-to-day operations. You understand how to lay out harvest units, oversee contractors and crews, and keep work moving safely and efficiently. You communicate clearly, stay organized, and approach daily challenges with practicality and good judgment.

What the job is

In this role, you’ll support the operational side of our timberlands by planning and executing harvest layouts, selecting silviculture prescriptions, and overseeing both company and contracted crews. You’ll help ensure all activities meet regulatory requirements, company standards, and SFI expectations. This is a field-forward role that requires strong coordination, consistent follow-through, and the ability to make sound decisions in real time.

What the department is like

Our forestry team values clear communication, teamwork, and reliable execution. We work closely with each other and with other departments to keep projects on track, meet production goals, and maintain safe, compliant operations. The work moves quickly, and we support one another in staying responsive and adaptable.

What you’ll do

  • Promote a safe workplace and model safe behaviors at all times.
  • Identify and select areas for harvesting, chip thinning, pulp production, and other silviculture investments.
  • Assess laydown quality and chip thinning results and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Assist in laying out harvest units and haul roads in compliance with state and federal regulations and company standards.
  • Support logging and road construction/maintenance administration and perform field checks to ensure contract and harvest plan compliance.
  • Conduct road and stream crossing assessments across ownership.
  • Assist with harvest operations planning to maximize efficiency and support accurate production and sales forecasting.
  • Oversee site prep, planting, and other silviculture activities.
  • Provide leadership to crews during wildfire events and help plan and implement pile burning and hazard abatement.
  • Apply and communicate company policies consistently to promote efficient operations.
  • Ensure compliance with SFI standards, Forest Practice Rules, and local regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with community members when needed and represent the company at meetings and events.

What you bring

You have a degree in Forest Management, Natural Resource Management, or a related field, along with 3–7 years of operational forestry experience (or equivalent industry experience). You’re self-directed, organized, and able to manage shifting priorities. You communicate clearly, maintain strong working relationships with coworkers and regulatory partners, and can navigate fieldwork and administrative tasks with equal reliability. You’re proficient in Microsoft Office, understand Forest Practice Rules, and bring a practical, problem-solving mindset to your work. A valid driver’s license is required.
