About Us
Neighbor Lawn Care is a social enterprise business of Neighbor to Neighbor (N2N), a Raleigh-based nonprofit dedicated to creating living-wage jobs in our community. Every account we grow is a job we can sustain. We're early-stage and growing.
The Opportunity
We're looking for an Area Manager to take full ownership of the business — driving new customer growth, managing day-to-day operations, and leading our crew. This is a ground-floor leadership role with direct impact. You will be the person who builds this thing.
This is a 50/50 role: half driving growth, half operations and crew management.
What You'll Do
Drive Growth (50%)
- Prospect and close new residential and commercial lawn care accounts through direct outreach, referrals, property manager relationships, and community networking
- Build and manage a sales pipeline; develop territory and account plans to grow the customer base
- Quote services, prepare agreements, and manage the full sales process from first contact to signed contract
- Promote customer retention through regular follow-up — retained customers are as important as new ones
- Identify upsell opportunities and cross-sell with our sister residential and commercial cleaning company
Lead the Operation (50%)
- Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for crew leads and foremen — scheduling, routing, accountability, and quality
- Hire, onboard, and retain crew members
- Conduct site visits to ensure quality meets customer expectations; resolve issues quickly
- Manage job scheduling, work orders, invoicing, and basic reporting
- Be willing and able to perform any crew function when needed — you lead from the front
Who We're Looking For
You are motivated by growth and ownership. You know how to open doors, build relationships, and close business — and you know none of that matters if the operation behind you doesn't deliver.
You bring:
- A track record of driving growth in a service-based environment — new customer acquisition, territory development, or business development
- Experience managing a small team or crew while keeping morale and accountability high
- Strong communication skills — equally comfortable with a homeowner, a property manager, or a crew member
- Self-direction and follow-through; you don't need to be managed, you need to be pointed in the right direction
- Experience with CRM/FSM software
- Background in lawn care, landscaping, pest control, or home services
- Bilingual English/Spanish — strongly preferred
- Experience at a franchise, regional operator, or service company
Pay: $50,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- 401(k)
- 401(k) matching
- Dental insurance
- Health insurance
- Paid time off
- Retirement plan
- Vision insurance
Application Question(s):
- This job requires building a new customer base through direct outreach and prospecting. Are you comfortable with that type of sales activity?
- What interests you about our mission compared to a typical lawn care company?
