Arson Investigator
The City of Pearland, TX
is seeking to hire a
full-time Arson Investigator
to lead and improve aspects of the day-to-day operations of our
Fire Marshal Office.

The Arson Investigator earns a competitive hourly salary of $49.94-$54.57/hour, based on qualifications. Additionally, the city pays all premiums for our employees' dental, long-term disability protection, and life insurance plus the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. We also offer a retirement plan through the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) with a 2:1 employer match, life insurance, disability, access to the city's recreation fitness center, employee assistance program, educational assistance, 11 paid holidays and 2 designated paid holidays, paid vacation, sick leave , and an active wellness program focusing on physical, mental, and financial health.

Essential Functions
- Performs fire inspections of new and existing facilities and/or structures to ensure compliance with various laws and City Ordinances.
- Meets with contractors and examines building plans as needed to discuss projects under construction.
- Performs plan reviews of facilities and/or structures being proposed in the City to ensure they meet the requirements as adopted by the City.
- Performs fire investigations.
- Performs investigations related to professional standards.
- Enforces environmental crimes.
- Manages evidence in the event of criminal acts.
- Performs data entry, record keeping, and reporting.
- Ensures evidence is secure related to investigations Enforces federal, state, and local laws and codes.
- Performs fire prevention education.

Performs related work as assigned.
- Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one year of college in fire science or closely related field.

Experience is preferred pertaining to fire inspections, fire investigation, or closely related experience.
- TCOLE Peace Officer Certification
- TCFP Fire Inspector Certification
- TCFP Fire Investigator Certification
- Plans Examiner I (preferred, but not required)
- ICS 100, 200, 700, 800

Texas Class "C" Driver's License
