Art Director

Ryan Leckey Media (RLM) is a fast-moving, Emmy-winning content machine. While our Creative Director builds the strategy, we need an Art Director to build the world. We are looking for a designer-at-heart who lives for aesthetics. We need someone who understands that a brand is more than a logo; it’s a feeling conveyed through typography, color, and composition.

We don't need a "manager" who just looks at spreadsheets. We need a Visual Lead who can bridge the gap between high-end graphic design and cinematic video. You are the guardian of the "RLM Look" and the architect of our clients' visual identities.

How to Apply

We don’t care about a "standard" cover letter. We want to see your vision. Send your resume and your portfolio to: Ryan@RyanLeckeyMedia.com & Mollie@RyanLeckeyMedia.com

**Submissions received via Indeed will not be considered for employment. You must contact us via email.**

The RLM Challenge: Along with your reel or portfolio, send us a short video introducing yourself and why you’re “the fit” for our company. Feel free to share a short note detailing one specific project where your "Direction" took a good idea and made it an iconic one.

The Role: Defining the Aesthetic

As Art Director, you are the translation layer between a creative brief and a finished masterpiece. You lead the visual department by setting the style guides, mood boards, and design standards that our content creators follow. You don't have to be the fastest editor or the lead shooter, but you must have the best eye in the room. You ensure that every frame of a video, every social tile, and every pitch deck looks like a million bucks.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Visual Identity Mastery: Develop and maintain comprehensive style guides for RLM and our clients. You own the fonts, the colors, the layouts, and the vibe.
  • Concept to Composition: Transform abstract ideas into tangible mood boards and storyboards. You provide the visual roadmap that our shooters and editors follow.
  • Design Leadership: Act as the final gatekeeper for quality. You review edits and graphics not just for "errors," but for aesthetic excellence. You ensure the color grade is "on brand" and the typography is flawless.
  • Multi-Platform Design: While video is our bread and butter, you ensure the brand translates to print, digital ads, and social media. You are the expert in how a brand "lives" across different mediums.
  • On-Set Visual Styling: You don't need to pull focus, but you do need to be on set to ensure the art direction (wardrobe, props, lighting style) aligns with the creative vision.
  • Mentorship: You are a "Player-Coach." You help our junior creators understand design theory, helping them level up their composition and stylistic choices.

The Art Director Checklist

  • Design-First Background: You have a degree or equivalent elite-level experience in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or Visual Communications.
  • The "Eye": You have an obsessive attention to detail regarding composition, color theory, and typography. You can spot a "wrong" font or a slightly off-center logo from across the room.
  • Adobe Power User: Mastery of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is a must. You should have a strong working knowledge of Premiere Pro and After Effects to guide the video team, even if you aren't doing the "heavy lifting" in the timeline.
  • Brand Strategy: You understand how visual choices impact a company's bottom line. You know that "pretty" isn't enough; it has to be effective.
  • 5+ Years Experience: You have a proven track record in an agency or high-level in-house creative department.
  • Portfolio of Fire: Your portfolio should showcase a range of styles, from sleek corporate branding to gritty, cinematic storytelling.

The Perks (What's In It For You)

  • Elite Health Benefits: Comprehensive health insurance, including full vision and dental.
  • Future Planning: A Simple IRA with a 3% company match.
  • Creative Sovereignty: Direct influence over the growth and direction of an Emmy-winning agency.
  • The Playground: Access to the best tech and gear in the industry, with a team that is ready to execute your wildest ideas.
