At NSCC, we are always seeking a pool of qualified instructors to teach part-time, in person and/or hybrid/online, college level courses in the following areas within the Arts & Sciences Division: American Government/Political Sciences, Composition, History, Humanities, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, Studio Art, and Visual Communications & Graphic Design. Interested candidates must submit an online employment application, resume/curriculum vitae, and unofficial transcripts to be considered.
These positions are responsible for instructing, supervising, and evaluating student progress in the classroom. Part-time instructors will also work closely with the full-time faculty and the dean in their leadership, development, assessment, and evaluation of curriculum.
American Government/ Political Sciences- The qualified applicant must hold a Master’s degree in Government or Political Science or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in government or political science.
Composition- The qualified applicant must hold a Master’s degree in English, preferably in rhetoric/composition, or a Master’s degree and a cohesive set of at least 18 semester credit hours of graduate coursework in English.
History- The qualified applicant must hold a Master’s degree in History or American Civilization (With cross-listed courses in history) or a Master’s degree and a cohesive set of at least 18 semester credit hours of graduate coursework in history.
Humanities- The qualified applicant must have a Master’s degree in culture studies, humanities, literature, language, philosophy, religion, or art or a master’s degree and a cohesive set of at least 18 semester credit hours of graduate coursework 18 graduate hours in
Humanities, Liberal Arts, or Liberal Studies.
Philosophy- The qualified applicant must hold a master’s degree in Philosophy or a master’s degree with 18 graduate credit hours in Philosophy, Humanities, or other related field.
Psychology- The qualified applicant must have a master’s degree in Psychology or a master’s degree with 18 graduate credit hours in Psychology.
Sociology- The qualified applicant must have a Master’s degree in Sociology or a related master’s degree with 18 graduate credit hours in Sociology.
Studio Art - Master’s degree in related field, or Masters plus 18 graduate credit hours in related field, or Master’s degree, and/or substantial post-graduate portfolio review.
Visual Communications & Graphic Design- The qualified applicant must hold at minimum, a bachelor’s degree in the discipline of Graphic Design or related Field. Related fields include, but are not limited to: Fine Arts, Advertising Design, Typography, Public Design, Communication Arts, Graphic Communications, Visual Communications, Web Design, Motion Graphics, Interactive Art, Digital Design, Print Design, Printmaking Art & Design, Art Direction.
