ArtSouth Summer Camp Musical Theater Teacher

Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Musical Theater Camp Teacher to inspire students through the vibrant world of musical theater. This role offers an exciting opportunity to foster creativity, confidence, and performance skills in learners of all ages. As a key member of ArtSouth's Summer Camp team, you will design engaging curricula, lead energetic classes, and cultivate a love for theater arts in diverse student populations. Your enthusiasm and expertise will help students develop their singing, acting, dancing, and stage presence while enjoying a supportive and motivating environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive curriculum plans that incorporate vocal training, acting techniques, choreography, and stagecraft tailored to various age groups and skill levels
  • Lead engaging classroom sessions that promote active participation, creativity, and teamwork among students
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive learning environment conducive to artistic growth
  • Prepare students for performances by guiding rehearsals, coordinating costume and set design ideas, and encouraging confidence on stage
  • Incorporate elements of theater history, musical styles, and performance etiquette into lessons to enrich students' understanding of the art form
  • Collaborate with parents, staff, and other educators to track student progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Utilize diverse teaching methods including lesson planning, tutoring, and hands-on activities such as photography or sewing projects related to costume design when appropriate
  • Adapt teaching strategies for children with special needs or early childhood education requirements to ensure inclusive participation

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in teaching musical theater or related performing arts disciplines such as dance (ballet), singing, acting, or stage management
  • Strong background in curriculum development and lesson planning for various age groups including preschool and early childhood education
  • Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to motivate students and foster a collaborative environment
  • Knowledge of theater techniques combined with skills in choreography (dancing), sewing for costumes, or culinary arts for themed activities is a plus
  • Experience working with children or students with special education needs is highly desirable
  • Ability to incorporate creative arts such as photography or culinary experiences into lessons to enhance student engagement
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students of diverse backgrounds and developmental stages
