The Advanced Studies Program at St. Paul’s School announces a search for the position of Writing Workshop Teacher for a five-week intensive academic program running mid-June through late July of summer of 2026. Preference will be given to returning candidates. The 2026 ASP Writing Workshop Teacher dates of employment are June 18 - July 27, 2026.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position includes teaching a writing course for approximately 40-42 talented and motivated rising high school juniors and seniors from New Hampshire’s public and parochial schools. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Intentional mentoring of a college-aged intern who is considering a career in education.
  • Attending morning Chapel (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri), weekly faculty meetings (Wed after class), weekly Writing Workshop team meetings (usually held after chapel), First Night Service, Last Night Service, and other community meetings as scheduled.
  • Teaching four sections of Writing Workshop.
  • Teaching class six days a week (Monday-Saturday, 10:00 am – 12:35 pm).
  • Actively enforcing Program policies, rules and expectations.
  • Completing evaluations of students and interns before departing at the end of the program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor’s degree (master’s or higher preferred); a keen interest in current pedagogy; five or more years teaching or
relevant career experience. Experience with college essays is preferred. This course focuses on student writing, helping individuals develop confidence in their own writing process and voice. The Advanced Studies Program seeks innovative educators who are eager to embrace the life of a dynamic residential community. A successful candidate will have experience engaging a diverse student body and an interest in strengthening the ASP’s inclusive community.
