Assembly Operator 1st & 2nd Shifts

1st Shift - 6a-230p with potential for overtime up to 6a depending on production needs.

2nd Shift - 6pm to 2:30am with protentional for overtime up to 6a depending on production needs. *Shift Differential given for 2nd shift associates*

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of current machinery/equipment
  • Ability to work effectively and communicate with all levels of Topre and related departments
  • Written and Verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer knowledge (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email, etc.)
  • Basic math skills required

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produce finished good products for automotive clients by operation of welding machines and robotics.
  • Produce parts at scheduled JPH (jobs per hour)
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment (5S)
  • Lift and place automobile parts on jig for robot welding
  • Complete production paperwork as required
  • Read and follow written operational standards and processes
  • Knowledge of current machinery/equipment
  • Ability to work effectively and communicate with all levels of Topre and related departments
  • Written and Verbal communication skills

Special requirements:

  • Must be available to work any shift including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and bend 100% of the time

You will perform assembly line tasks as well as identify areas of improvement to increase efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in manufacturing, assembly, or other related fields
  • Familiarity with assembly tools and equipment
  • Ability to handle physical workload
  • Ability to work well in teams
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities:

  • Work with a team to assemble entire products or components
  • Rotate through tasks for specific production processes
  • Conduct quality inspections on products and parts
  • Prepare finished products for shipment
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area
  • Perform assembly operations and change-overs as directed.
  • Perform first piece approval of production parts.
  • Stock material to your operation as required.
  • Be knowledgeable of and follow safety rules and practices. Use proper lockout procedures. Wear designated safety equipment.
  • Observe quality of your parts regularly; perform required quality checks and documentation on time. Contain any bad or suspect quality parts and do not allow them to get in with rest of the parts. Report any quality problems promptly to your supervisor and/or quality personnel. If in doubt – stop and ask questions.
  • Perform operator preventative maintenance on your machine and related equipment as assigned.
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and order to your operation and area.
  • Fill out and submit required paperwork as assigned. This includes but is not limited to production counts, scrap counts, downtime, quality records, change-over documentation, and check-off sheets.
  • Operate fork truck as required.
  • Be knowledgeable of and operate your machine at specified speeds and rates.
  • Participate in problem-solving and improvement activities including Kaizen and 5S.
  • Follow plant rules and regulations.
  • Work as part of a team to achieve world-class production, quality, changeover times, safety performance, and housekeeping and organization
  • Able to changeover and run all assembly and related equipment.
  • Able to operate and teach robots and correct minor mig-welding and spot-welding problems including changing tips, changing spools of wire, wire-feed problems and so forth.
  • Able to perform necessary quality checks and maintain high quality levels.
  • Has at least one year of assembly operator experience.
  • Can perform required maintenance and preventative maintenance duties.
  • Works in a safe manner and follows safety rules and practices.
  • Has successful experience in problem-solving and improvement.
  • Constant standing, bending, and lifting.
