Asset Accountant – Buffalo, NY

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintaining fixed asset accounting records for the Company’s pipeline and utility subsidiaries
• Reviewing and recording fixed asset related financial transactions, including business combinations, asset purchases, and asset sales
• Working cross functionally with the Engineering team to monitor capital projects under construction and assess asset retirement obligations
• Other responsibilities include regulatory reporting, account reconciliations, and other special projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, accounting information systems, finance or related business field
• At least 5+ years of relevant experience in fixed asset accounting
• Working knowledge of accounting practices, principles, and procedures
• Candidates must demonstrate good verbal, analytical, and written communication skills
• MS Excel expertise and the ability to work successfully in a team environment are also required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• MBA or MS in Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Finance or related business field
• Certified Public Accountant
• Experience with PeopleSoft Financials, Oracle Fusion, PowerPlan or similar financial applications
• Experience with fixed asset accounting, budgeting, and SOX compliance reporting

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The base salary range for this position is $62,500 – $90,000.

The specific base pay offered to a successful applicant will be based primarily on relevant professional experience. Other components that may be considered include: individual qualifications, licensures, industry specific experience, education and market demands for specialized skills. The pay range is subject to change at any time based on various internal and external factors. Exempt positions will also be eligible for an Annual Cash Bonus Plan.
