Launch your career with impact in the dynamic world of (re)insurance. At Swiss Re, we help make the world more resilient by tackling risks that matter, from natural catastrophes to cyber threats and beyond.

Our Summer Internship program is designed to provide students with a valuable combination of on-the-job training and off-the-job learning opportunities. As an intern, you will work on meaningful projects, participate in industry-relevant training, and build connections through social and networking events. We believe a Swiss Re internship is more than a summer job, it is the first step toward a rewarding career.

About the Role

The Portfolio Analytics Engineering (PAE) team sits within Swiss Re Insurance-Linked Investment Advisors Corporation (SRILIAC), a registered investment advisor focused on catastrophe bond strategies. PAE is a cross-functional group responsible for designing, implementing, and deploying technical solutions that support the Portfolio Management (PM) team in areas such as market and portfolio risk monitoring, portfolio construction and optimization, forecasting and scenario analysis, and exposure tracking and reporting.

As an intern, you will be embedded in this dynamic environment, contributing to the development and enhancement of tools used across SRILIAC’s PM suite. You’ll gain exposure to both reinsurance and investment management practices while working on projects that span data engineering, analytics, and cloud integration.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to apply your technical skills in a real-world investment context, collaborate with experienced professionals, and contribute to innovative solutions that drive portfolio performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Refactor existing codebases to improve modularity and maintainability
  • Build new tools for scenario analysis, portfolio construction, and risk modeling
  • Support the expansion of SRILIAC’s data landscape through data pipeline development and cloud integration
  • Integrate new data sources into our architecture
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support portfolio analytics and reporting
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable data solutions

About You

We are looking for candidates who are:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Skilled in SQL, Python, and PySpark, with experience in data modeling and ETL development
  • Familiar with Microsoft Azure tools such as ADLS, Databricks, and SQL DW
  • Strong in statistical analysis and problem-solving
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with intellectual curiosity and a desire to learn

The internship base salary will be $20-$30 per hour, depending on location, qualifications, projected graduation year and/or highest degree held.

Please note: Graduate and Intern positions at Swiss Re are not eligible for US work authorization sponsorship.
