JOB SUMMARY
The Asset Manager will lead FlipCo’s Special Assets & Note Strategy function, owning decision-making across loan workouts, collateral control strategies, distressed asset resolution, and note sale execution. This role requires a seasoned lending professional with strong real estate underwriting capabilities, deep workout economic judgment, and the ability to operate with autonomy in complex situations.

The Asset Manager will serve as the primary point of accountability for special asset outcomes, working directly with executive leadership, borrowers, attorneys, note buyers, and third-party vendors. This role includes the opportunity to build processes, shape strategy, and develop a team as the platform scales.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Own and manage FlipCo’s distressed and underperforming loan portfolio from early intervention through resolution
  • Evaluate borrower performance, collateral value, and macro conditions to determine optimal strategies (restructure, retain, exit, or note sale)
  • Lead borrower negotiations, including forbearances, modifications, discounted payoffs, and collateral enhancements
  • Design and execute control-without-ownership strategies to protect capital and maximize recoveries
  • Make recommendations on escalation to enforcement, receivership, or legal action
  • Oversee preparation and execution of note sales, including pricing strategy and buyer engagement
  • Direct workout models, NPV analyses, recovery scenarios, and executive recommendations
  • Manage external relationships with attorneys, receivers, appraisers, brokers, and vendors
  • Partner with executive leadership to set special asset strategy and risk tolerance
  • Build, train, and manage junior team members as the function grows
SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS
  • Advanced expertise in real estate underwriting and workout/recovery economics (non-negotiable)
  • Strong judgment in distressed lending, collateral strategy, and borrower negotiation
  • Experience evaluating and executing note sales and alternative exits
  • Leadership mindset with ability to build processes and mentor junior staff
  • High proficiency in financial modeling and portfolio analysis
  • Strong communication skills and executive presence
  • Calm, decisive, and disciplined under pressure
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Real Estate, or related field preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in lending, special assets, workouts, distressed real estate, or note investing
  • Demonstrated experience leading borrower negotiations and asset resolutions
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple complex assets simultaneously
  • Ability to travel as needed for borrower meetings or property inspections
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer
  • All candidates must have the ability to speak, read and write English
