The Office is one of Minnesota’s largest public law offices and as of 2025, has been recognized as a Star Tribune Top Workplace Minnesota for five years in a row and Top Workplace USA for four years in a row.The Office is currently seeking an Assistant Attorney General in the Medicaid Fraud Division of the Office.The incumbent will serve primarily as a criminal prosecutor working to protect the integrity of Minnesota’s medical assistance program and ensure accountability for those who defraud it. The division also prosecutes abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation of vulnerable adults upon referral from county attorneys’ offices, many of whom come from lesser populated counties. The division responds to criminal appeals and post-conviction petitions as well. Finally, the incumbent may also handle a limited civil case load of False Claims Act cases. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to support the mission of the office by: Traveling periodically throughout Minnesota, as cases can be filed anywhere in the stateContributing positively to a team and interacting successfully with clients and members of the publicLitigating independently and making strategic legal decisions on a diverse caseloadMultitasking by managing an active caseload and meeting tight deadlinesWorking in an inclusive, creative, and collaborative work environment This position is eligible for a hybrid work environment (combination of in-office work and telework). Minimum QualificationsGraduation from a law school accredited by the ABA and actively licensed in good standing to practice law in the State of Minnesota (or current licensure within another state with ability to transfer licensure within 90 days of hire)Outstanding writing, research, and oral communication/advocacy skills (writing sample is required with application submission)Strong research, analytical, and trial strategy skillsAbility to: Travel to counties throughout the statemultitask by managing an active caseload and meeting tight deadlinescontribute positively to a team and interact successfully with clients and members of the publicProven ability to work in an inclusive, creative, and collaborative work environmentProven ability to show excellent judgement, character, and work ethic IMPORTANT!
