Assistant Buyer - Home Decor

JOB SUMMARY:

As an Assistant Buyer, you will assist the buying team in advancing the business while learning key processes and providing operational support to the buyers. Your primary goal is to create order and ensure accuracy. You will need excellent follow through and attention to detail. You will build relationships with, and provide support for other teams including sales, receiving, ecommerce and marketing. The Assistant Buyer is responsible for partnering with Buyers on all necessary tasks.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Data management : Perform all necessary administrative functions supporting the buying team with accuracy and efficiency; including item creation, PO entry and maintenance, special orders, and monthly reconciliation.
  • Analysis: Provide basic analysis of key business data to the Buyers. Review selling reports and make re-order recommendations to the Buyers.
  • Inventory management: Tracks when merchandise is being shipped/received and ensures adherence to scheduled ship dates. Anticipates potential problems and proposes solutions.
  • Vendor communication: Proactively communicate with vendors on all PO & delivery issues. Independently builds vendor relationships to facilitate problem solving and follow-up.
  • Product: Develop and demonstrate basic product knowledge. Share information with the sales teams.
  • Ecommerce: Regular review of ecommerce site to review new activations and guarantee the accuracy of project information and availability. Manages web samples and descriptions as needed.
  • Marketing: Creates work order requests for in store signage and facilitates distribution of them.
  • Sample Coordinating: Pulls product for emailers, retickets after complete, then distributes back to the sales floor.
  • Retail store: Answer calls for wrapping or ringing support at the registers. Provide support to the Sales Team, Ecommerce Team and Reception as needed.
  • Associates Degree or higher
  • Previous retail experience preferred.
  • Comfortable utilizing all Microsoft Office programs and not afraid of Microsoft Excel.
  • Detail oriented with excellent follow through.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize projects and handle multiple tasks.
  • Must be able to work at least one weekend day.
