The Role: Assistant Compliance & Accreditation Manager
Salary Information: $33.62-50.42/hourly
The Assistant Compliance & Accreditation Manager plays a vital role in maintaining and advancing the Division’s accreditation and compliance efforts, with a primary focus on CALEA Public Safety Communications Accreditation. This position is assigned to the Accreditation Manager and supports agency leadership by ensuring policies, documentation, audits, and internal processes reflect best practices, professional standards, and organizational values.
This is not a passive administrative position. It is a high-trust, high-impact role that requires initiative, persistence, analytical thinking, and the ability to follow complex projects through to completion with minimal supervision.

Work is performed under the direction of the Accreditation Manager. Work is reviewed for accuracy and completeness, and for adherence with City and Division policies and procedures. Additional responsibilities may be required in adherence to State of Ohio and CALEA standards.
Program Function
Assist with coordinating the agency’s CALEA communications accreditation program, including assessment preparation, policy/SOP development, and compliance documentation.
Assist with developing and implementing internal review processes (mock assessments, audits, and inspections) to ensure continued compliance.
Collaborate with department leadership to update and revise policies, general orders, and SOPs in line with CALEA standards.
Monitor accreditation timelines, deliverables, and deadlines; communicate requirements to appropriate staff.
Prepare and present reports to executive leadership, as well as the accreditation manager, regarding accreditation status, progress, and areas for improvement.
Train agency personnel on accreditation standards, procedures, and responsibilities.
Serve as an additional point of contact with CALEA communications accreditation and represent the agency at conferences and meetings as needed.
Attend CALEA conferences, training, and workshops as needed to stay informed of updates and best practices.
Aid with organizing on-site and remote CALEA assessments, to include: all necessary agency preparations, documentation, scheduling interviews, collaborating to resolve any agency action needed.
Maintain up-to-date files and tracking systems for continued compliance with applicable standards.
Maintain and archive policy, compliance, and accreditation records and documentation.
Administrative Function
Assists with internal and external Division compliance and accreditation audits to include, but not limited to CALEA, Ohio Collaborative, PowerDMS, and other assessments as assigned.
Updates and revises the Westerville Division of Police General Orders, including all
computerized manuals and documents maintained in the policy management software.
Completes City and Division requests for statistics/graphs utilizing DSS and DAM platforms through LERMS
Compiles annual statistics for both the Ohio Collaborative and the CALEA Information Management and Reporting System (CIMRS).
Provides information and/or research analysis for Division administration/personnel, or other City leaders.
Participate in training sessions for Division in-service and community engagement functions, as necessary
Public speaking engagements and requirements as necessary.
Develops slide deck presentations in collaboration with Division members.
Collecting and analyzing quantitative / qualitative data and reports findings with recommendations and implementation strategies.
Research and development for new initiatives, policy, training curriculum, and current issues of interest.
Assists with developing and presenting recommendations for written directives, compliance audits/issues, special projects, training and data analysis.
Prepares reports to identify compliance or non-compliance with established standards.

Possession of Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or closely related field.
Experience in researching, drafting, writing, and implementing policy and procedure.
Ability to compile quantitative / qualitative data, provide statistical analysis, and present findings and/or recommendations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including use of formulas, data sorting/filtering, pivot tables, and basic data visualization.
Ability to effectively carry out special and general assignments in a timely manner, requiring organization of material and development of procedures with minimal supervision.
Considerable knowledge of rules, regulations, and procedures of a public safety agency and applicable federal, state and local laws.
Maintains a highly professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately manage large volumes of documentation, standards, and supporting proofs.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify gaps, develop solutions, and follow issues through to resolution.
Ability to work as part of a team and assist other Division members, as necessary.
Willing to accept other responsibilities to ensure success among team members.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with other employees, community groups, and the general public.

Ability to prepare clear and concise written documentation and keep accurate records.
Ability to keep internal affairs investigations and other sensitive information confidential Ability to use a computer, applicable software programs and modern office equipment.
Possession of a valid Ohio Driver's License free of excessive violations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience as a full-time law enforcement officer or communications technician.
Master's degree preferred.
Knowledge of FOP Collective Bargaining Agreements and potential policy issues.
Experience collaborating closely with agency leaders and CEOs, with the ability to think critically at the executive and command level and provide best-practice strategies and solutions.
Ability to address topics such as command discipline and liability, credibility, and managing agency issues and organizational change.
Experience in public speaking to various types of audiences.
Experience in developing and conducting training or informational sessions.
Ability to redact information pursuant public records laws.
Grant writing and submission experience.
Knowledge of police policies, procedures, principles, and knowledge of administration
management practices in law enforcement.
Experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Office and Database applications, PowerDMS software, Tyler Inc. LERMS and DSS software, and the Ohio Collaborative Portal.

HEALTH BENEFITS
Employees pay 15% of the monthly medical insurance premium through United Healthcare which includes prescription coverage. Employee, Employee plus child(ren), Employee plus spouse and family coverage is available. However, a spouse who has affordable health care coverage through their employer must elect that coverage as primary. The City health care plan is a high deductible healthcare plan.
HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNT
Annually, the City will deposit 85% of your health insurance deductible amount into an HSA account in your name.
VISION AND DENTAL
The City pays 100% of the premium for dental and vision. Coverage levels will be explained in further detail at time of hire.
LIFE INSURANCE
The City pays 100% of the premium on a $100,000 life insurance policy for employee and $10,000 for spouse and $5,000 for child.
RETIREMENT PENSION
The City contributes 14% monthly toward retirement benefits offered through the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System. The employee pension payment share is 10% of gross salary.
VACATION
New employees accrue two weeks of paid vacation every year. Vacation time increases with length of service time.
PERSONAL LEAVE
Employees receive 6 prorated days of personal leave annually.
