Assistant Controller

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise daily accounting operations, including general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliation processes, ensuring all accounts are accurate and up to date through detailed account analysis and account reconciliation procedures.
  • Prepare and review financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements, with clear financial report writing that supports organizational decision-making.
  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or other financial management tools to streamline operations.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or process improvements.
  • Support budgeting processes and forecasting activities by providing accurate financial data and insights.
  • Ensure effective cash management practices are followed to optimize liquidity and fund allocation.
  • Maintain internal controls related to double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, regulatory reporting, and internal audit procedures.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during audits and ensure all documentation is complete for compliance purposes.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in accounting roles with a strong understanding of GAAP and public accounting standards.
  • Demonstrated expertise in technical accounting concepts such as general ledger reconciliation, account analysis, financial concepts, and financial software proficiency (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage).
  • Strong knowledge of cash management practices along with experience in accounts payable/receivable processes and payroll administration.
  • Excellent skills in financial report writing combined with analytical abilities for forecasting and financial analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Exceptional communication skills to clearly articulate complex financial information to diverse audiences.
