Position Summary
The Assistant Controller will support the Controller in managing the company’s day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls. This role is critical in ensuring timely and accurate financial statements, supporting audits, and leading process improvements across the accounting function. The ideal candidate has strong accounting knowledge, experience in managing accounting teams, and thrives in a fast-paced, operational environment.
Key Responsibilities

Support month-end and year-end close processes and ensure timely preparation of financial statements

Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger transactions for accuracy and completeness

Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis

Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing activities

Maintain internal controls and ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures

Support external audits, including preparation of schedules, reports, and documentation

Assist in the implementation and enhancement of financial systems and tools

Provide financial reports and insights to department leaders and senior management

Lead or assist in special projects such as new system implementations, acquisitions, or process automation

Train and supervise accounting staff as needed
Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required (CPA or CMA preferred)

4+ years of accounting experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or senior accounting role

Strong understanding of GAAP and internal control frameworks

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems)

Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial reporting tools

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Experience in construction, traffic control, or project-based industries is a plus
