Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Controller to join our finance team. This pivotal role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and support the organization’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic insight. As an integral part of our accounting leadership, you will oversee a broad spectrum of financial activities, from corporate accounting and regulatory reporting to financial analysis and internal controls. Your expertise will help drive sound financial management and foster continuous improvement within our organization.
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting: Manage the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and ensure timely, accurate reporting.
Ledger Oversight: Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and month-end closing processes to maintain data integrity.
Operational Accounting: Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring proper processing and compliance with company policies.
Cash Management: Conduct balance sheet reconciliation, bank reconciliations, and cash flow analysis to monitor financial health.
Strategic Planning: Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities to inform strategic decision-making.
Team Leadership: Mentor and develop accounting staff, promoting best practices in technical accounting, bookkeeping, and regulatory reporting.
Software Proficiency: Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Oracle NetSuite, or similar platforms for efficient financial management.
Stakeholder Communication: Prepare detailed financial reports and interpret complex financial concepts for stakeholders at all levels.
Compliance: Maintain knowledge of governmental accounting requirements and tax regulations to ensure compliance across all operations.
Requirements
Language Skills: Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a must.
Education & Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
Core Experience: Proven experience in corporate accounting with a strong understanding of GAAP principles.
Technical Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of technical accounting standards, including SOX compliance, securities law, and governmental accounting.
Systems Expertise: Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar systems) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Accounting Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to perform journal entries, balance sheet analysis, and financial report writing.
Analytical Skills: Strong capacity for financial report interpretation and the preparation of complex financial statements.
Audit & Regulation: Experience with auditing processes and regulatory reporting requirements.
Soft Skills: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while mentoring team members.
Specialized Knowledge: Knowledge of tax experience related to wills, trusts, and estate law is a plus.
