Assistant Controller

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our accounting and finance team. In this pivotal role, you will support the organization’s financial operations by overseeing accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and assisting in the preparation of financial statements. Duties

  • Assist in managing the overall accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions using AS400.
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and ensure accuracy through detailed account reconciliation and double-entry bookkeeping practices.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliation, bank reconciliations, and account analysis to maintain integrity of financial data.
  • Oversee month-end closing processes, journal entries, and financial report writing while interpreting complex financial data for management review.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop junior accounting staff by providing guidance on technical accounting issues such as accrual accounting, debits & credits, and internal controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Proven experience in corporate or non-profit accounting environments with strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software such as AS4100 or similar platforms; intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
  • Deep understanding of technical accounting concepts including financial statement preparation, balance sheet reconciliation, journal entries, and account reconciliation.
  • Familiarity with food manufacturing industry is a big plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial reports and conduct cash flow analysis effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while mentoring team members.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
