Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Assistant Dental Assistant (Assistant DA) to join our vibrant dental team. In this role, you will support the dental practitioners by providing exceptional chairside assistance, ensuring smooth patient flow, and maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment. Duties

  • Assist the dental team during patient procedures by preparing instruments, materials, and equipment with precision and efficiency.
  • Maintain sterilization protocols and infection control standards using aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring high-quality images for accurate diagnosis.
  • Gather and record vital signs, medical history, and other relevant medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Support pediatric dentistry procedures by engaging young patients with patience and care, ensuring their comfort throughout treatments.
  • Manage medical records and documentation accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems like EMR systems or Epic.
  • Assist with dental procedures across specialties including prosthodontics, endodontics, general dentistry, and pediatric dentistry, applying knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy.
  • Operate 3D scanners and other advanced dental technology to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Support the dental receptionist by managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out processes, and answering patient inquiries professionally.
  • Uphold strict infection control protocols, including proper sterilization of instruments and maintaining a clean clinical environment at all times.

Skills

  • Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, four-handed dentistry, and aseptic technique.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding practices.
  • Experience working with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
  • Familiarity with dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners to support accurate diagnostics.
  • Ability to perform vital signs assessment accurately and understand pediatric dentistry principles for working with children.
  • Knowledge of infection control standards aligned with OSHA regulations to ensure safety within the clinic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills suitable for interacting with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics; capable of explaining procedures clearly.
  • Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail in all aspects of dental assistance.
