POSITION: Assistant Daycare Director
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Director of Early Childhood Operations, School Principal,
and Board of Christian Education
PURPOSE: The Assistant Daycare Director will support the Director of Early
Childhood Operations with the administration duties and in the quality care at
Immanuel Lutheran Preschool & Daycare.
Work Schedule:
1. 12-Month position.
2. Position requires daily attendance except when granted leave by school policy,
an employment agreement, Director, or when otherwise provided by law.
3. Actual hours will be set in conjunction with the Director and Principal.
4. Attend all staff and faculty meetings, maintain presence during scheduled
parent-teacher conferences, and attend District conferences as determined by
the Director.
QUALIFICATIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
5. Minimum of 21 years of age.
6. Associates Degree in Early Childhood or related field and a minimum of two (2)
years of experience in a licensed child care facility. Or has a minimum of 2 (2)
years of experience in management.
7. Actively participate in congregational activities including regular attendance at
worship services and Holy Communion.
8. Model appropriate Christian supervisory techniques and be available to counsel
staff as needed.
9. Cooperate loyally with pastors, director, principal, and colleagues to promote
Immanuel Preschool & Daycare, School, Church, and the Kingdom of God
10. Have good written communication skills and technology skills.
11. Communicate effectively in English, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
12. Participate in routine conversation in person and via telephone and distinguish
telephone, radio/pager signals, alarms and other auditory tones.
13. React calmly to stress and loud noise.

14. Ability to work well with others (staff, children and parents) and to foster a
team environment.
15. Strong understanding of child development.
16. Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
17. Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
18. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. frequently. Safely lift a child or children with up to
a total weight of 50 lbs.
19. Conduct activities involving substantial standing, walking and moderate sitting,
stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, crawling, twisting, and reaching on a
frequent basis.
20. Must be able to stoop, bend and kneel on the floor without assistance.
21. Must be able to walk within four (4) square blocks of the center.
22. Ability to complete Pediatric First Aid/CPR training and all other required
trainings for childcare
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administration:
The Assistant Daycare Director shall assist the Director to:
23. Support and plan with the Director
24. Next in line of authority, responsible in the director’s absence to help parents
and staff and handle any emergency.
25. Assist with any office duties the Director may need support with
26. Attend special activities and fundraisers
27. Ensure all paperwork is turned into the business manager bi-weekly
28. Adjust scheduling for staff as needed
29. Find subs for staff that can’t report to work or help fill in if no subs are
available
30. Maintain staff and student files as required by the State of Nebraska
31. Report any building conditions to the director and/or Board of Property
32. Know, understand, apply, enforce, and follow all policies, procedures, and
handbooks for the Preschool & Daycare, School, and Church.
33. Maintain a membership in an Early Childhood organization such as the National
Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
34. Maintain positive relations and display enthusiasm with students, colleagues,
parents, and other community members and groups
Staff:
The Assistant Daycare Director shall assist the Director to:

35. Maintain staff training file and help them complete their required hours
36. Oversee scheduling of staff for daily work schedule
37. Maintain confidentiality
38. Ensure room schedules are made and followed in each classroom
39. Lead monthly staff meetings with the Director
Children:
The Assistant Daycare Director shall assist the Director to:
40. Monitor safety of all classrooms and playgrounds
41. Assist with serving lunch and snacks
42. Assist with buying groceries and other daycare needs
43. Communicate needs and concerns with families in a professional way
44. Assist with the Bright Wheel reports
45. Demonstrate effectiveness and fairness in handling student discipline problems
46. Report any suspected child abuse or neglect to the director and appropriate
agency
47. Maintain confidentiality
48. Give tours to prospective families when director is not available
Pay: $16.00 - $19.50 per hour
