Position Summary

Zanesville Civic League (ZCL) is seeking a dependable, community-driven Part-Time Assistant Director to support the Executive Director in daily operations, after-school programming, and year-round youth initiatives, including summer programming. This is a highly hands-on role that extends beyond traditional program support, involving active supervision of the facility, including oversight of the gym, and ensuring a safe, structured, and engaging environment for youth.

The Assistant Director will play a key role in developing and implementing meaningful programming, building relationships with families, and leading community outreach efforts. This position requires someone who is passionate about youth development, comfortable engaging with the community, and able to take initiative in both structured programs and day-to-day center operations. Strong communication, adaptability, and a genuine commitment to serving the community are essential.

Schedule & Experience

  • Part-time position
  • Flexibility required for evenings, special events, gym operations, and community activities
  • Experience working with children, youth programs, or community-based organizations is strongly preferred
  • Experience with community outreach, networking, or program development is a plus
  • Ability to be hands-on, adaptable, and actively engaged in daily operations and programming

Key Responsibilities (Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following)

Support daily operations of the ZCL Community Center

Assist with planning and implementing youth programs

Supervise students during after-school hours, including safe pickup and sign-out

Maintain student records and complete brief daily case notes

Communicate with parents/guardians and local schools

Assist with supervising staff and volunteers

Support fundraising, grants, marketing, and community events

Maintain clean, safe classroom and program spaces

Ensure students receive daily snacks

Qualifications

High school diploma required; college coursework preferred

Experience in youth programming, childcare, or community work preferred

Strong organizational and communication skills

Valid driver’s license

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $13.00 per hour

  • Working with school-aged children: 1 year (Preferred)
