Assistant Director of Family Advocacy

Assistant Director of Family Advocacy

Salary starting at $75,000. Salary is based on experience.

We are seeking a strategic, self-driven leader to guide and evolve our Comprehensive Case Management (CCM) program within Client Services. The Assistant Director of Family Advocacy provides both vision and operational leadership to ensure children and caregivers receive consistent, high-quality, trauma-informed long-term support following the forensic interview.

This role is ideal for a decisive, systems-minded professional who thrives with autonomy, takes initiative, and is energized by building strong teams and refining programs in a dynamic service environment. You will shape how stabilization services are delivered, strengthen team performance, and ensure families receive responsive, risk-informed care.

Essential Functions:

Lead & Develop a High-Performing Team

  • Provide meaningful supervision, coaching, and performance feedback to Case Managers and assigned interns.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, growth, and continuous improvement.
  • Guide professional development in caregiver engagement, stabilization planning, and documentation excellence.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training while setting clear expectations from day one.
  • Address performance concerns directly and constructively, maintaining high standards with supportive leadership.

Drive Program Excellence & Innovation

  • Oversee long-term stabilization services for families post–forensic interview.
  • Ensure quality development and review of Family Service Plans (FSPs).
  • Monitor tier-based case management integrity and appropriate service-level determination.
  • Evaluate caseload distribution, productivity, and stabilization outcomes — and adjust systems proactively.
  • Identify service gaps, prevent workflow drift, and implement process improvements.
  • Serve as the decision-making escalation point for complex or high-risk cases.

Strengthen Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Clinical Department to ensure appropriate triage, referrals, and coordinated service planning.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with MDT partners including CPS, law enforcement, prosecutors, and courts.
  • Support agency-wide family assistance initiatives and collaborative planning efforts.

Ensure Responsive Triage & Stabilization

  • Oversee trauma and suicide risk assessment processes and safety planning.
  • Monitor engagement and stabilization supports for families awaiting therapy.
  • Guide appropriate resource connections and strengthen community partnerships.
  • Approve complex referrals and tier adjustments when needed.

Enhance Family Engagement

  • Provide oversight of high-quality psychoeducation groups for children and caregivers.
  • Support court orientation and family updates throughout legal proceedings.
  • Consult on complex caregiver dynamics and engagement barriers.
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate family support meetings in escalated cases.

Support Internship Development

  • Provide structured supervision and mentorship to assigned interns.
  • Collaborate with universities to maintain strong training partnerships.
  • Ensure interns receive clear expectations, growth opportunities, and meaningful experience.

Who Thrives in This Role?

  • A confident decision-maker who is comfortable leading in evolving environments.
  • A systems thinker who sees both the details and the big picture.
  • A leader who balances high accountability with strong staff development.
  • Someone who takes initiative rather than waiting for direction.
  • A professional who values collaboration but works independently and efficiently.
  • A mission-driven advocate committed to trauma-informed, abuse-dynamics-informed care.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/Location

Full-time position. Typical hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility based on operational needs. This position is located in the Lewisville office and will be required to travel to all offices (Lewisville, TX, Denton, TX and Bridgeport, Texas).

Education and Training

  • Graduate degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, or related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience serving children and families impacted by trauma.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
