Job Description:

Herkimer College is seeking a creative, dynamic, and highly motivated Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications. This full-time position plays a key role in building brand visibility and advancing the College's mission through engaging content, strategic communications, and innovative marketing.

Major responsibilities:

  • Develop compelling written and visual content for print, digital, social media, video, and web platforms.
  • Lead the College's social media strategy-content creation, engagement, monitoring, and analytics.
  • Research and secure opportunities for positive media coverage; write press releases, articles, and features.
  • Assist with website content management, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and SEO optimization.
  • Support the planning and promotion of campus events, including press conferences, award ceremonies, and community engagements.
  • Supervise and mentor student content creators and interns.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure consistent messaging and brand alignment.


Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in communications, marketing, PR, or journalism.
  • Demonstrated success managing professional social media accounts.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills across multiple platforms.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.


Additional Information:

Salary range: $47,916 - $71,874 (commensurate with qualifications and experience)
