POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director of Nursing works closely with the Director of Nursing in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the nursing program. This position is also responsible for providing leadership and fostering positive collegial relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The Assistant Director of Nursing works closely with the Director of Nursing devising and implementing departmental operations and maintaining high quality programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in the interviewing hiring, orientation, supervision and evaluation of classroom and clinical nursing faculty.
  • Assists in monitoring implementation of systematic nursing plans of evaluation.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Nursing and nursing faculty on annual budget needs
  • Assists in resolving student and faculty issues and inquiries
  • Champions ATI programs and curriculum
  • Assists faculty as needed with preparation of lesson plans, learning activities and evaluation of the learner’s knowledge.
  • Conducts faculty meetings, assigns faculty to committees, and serve as an unofficial member of program faculty committees as directed by the Director of Nursing
  • Assists in preparation of accreditation materials for HCI
  • Participates in professional development (i.e., continuing education, professional activities, conference presentations, scholarly publications, etc.)
  • Supports curriculum through in-service school programs, community outreach and participating in professional events
  • Performs other tasks as assigned
Requirements:

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current, active, unencumbered RN or APRN license or multistate privilege to practice nursing
  • A minimum of an earned graduate degree with a major in nursing from an accredited nursing program
  • Two years clinical experience
  • Two years nursing education experience
  • A minimum of one year experience in administration or management
  • A minimum of two years’ experience teaching in pre- or post- licensure nursing program
  • A minimum of an earned graduate degree with a major in nursing from an accredited nursing program
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and analytical skills.
  • Excellent teaching skills and ability to efficiently manage students’ clinical and skills, lab and
  • learning activities.
  • Competent in personal computer applications: word processing, spreadsheet, database, and
  • Email
  • Ability to manage people and projects
  • Other duties as assigned
