Position Overview

The Assistant Director of Residential Services plays a key leadership role in supporting and overseeing Community Living Arrangements (CLAs). This position ensures that agency policies, DDS regulations, and individual program goals are consistently implemented. The Assistant Director provides supervision, consultation, and guidance to Residence Directors, nursing staff, behavior specialists, and direct care professionals to ensure exceptional quality of care and compliance across all residential programs.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Administration

  • Collaborate with the Director of Residential Services (DRS) on staffing, program operations, and strategic planning.
  • Supervise Residence Directors and provide consultation to RNs, Behavior Specialists, and other key staff.
  • Support and monitor implementation of agency policies, DDS regulations, and licensing standards.
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training of new staff.
  • Assist in on-call rotation, licensing visits, and Quality Service Review (QSR) preparation.

Health Oversight

  • Audit and verify facility-specific health duties, including appointment tracking, vitals, annual consents, EMAR entries, and PRN follow-ups.
  • Ensure all incident reports and medication errors are documented per DDS and agency policy.
  • Report and document health-related issues to the Director of Health Services and Director of Residential Services.
  • Maintain current Connecticut Medication Administration Certification.

Clinical Support

  • Partner with Behavior Specialists to ensure consistent implementation and administration of individual Behavior Support Plans.

Residential Program Duties

  • Meet weekly with the Director of Residential Services to review program updates, assignments, and operational changes.
  • Conduct regular site visits to CLAs and document findings to leadership team members, including DRS, DHS, DHR, DQA, and Office Administrator.
  • Review and verify completion of Individual Support Plans (ISPs), progress reports, and health documentation.
  • Collect and review monthly recreation calendars and facility responsibility charts.
  • Conduct quarterly facility audits, addressing safety, maintenance, and compliance issues, and report findings to leadership.
  • Assist Residence Directors with ISP preparation, documentation, staffing, and problem-solving.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Psychology, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in residential or developmental disability services, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or administrative role.
  • In-depth knowledge of DDS regulations, licensing, and residential program management.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple priorities.
  • Must hold or be eligible for Connecticut Medication Administration Certification.
  • Valid Connecticut Driver’s License and reliable transportation required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
