Position Summary

As the Assistant Director of Sales you will focus on the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) and SMERF (Social, Military, Educational, Religious, Fraternal) segments, you will be responsible for developing, closing and managing business in these target group/event segments for the Alexandria resort, from a remote office in UAE. You will build and lead a pipeline of MICE & SMERF leads, negotiate contracts, work with the on-site teams to deliver events, and help achieve the resort’s group revenue targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategic sales plan for the MICE & SMERF segments, aligning with resort goals and market trends.
  • Prospect, identify and qualify new business opportunities in MICE & SMERF: associations, corporate meetings, educational groups, social events, military groups, religious retreats, fraternals, etc.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, meeting planners, event agencies, DMCs, associations and organizations within MICE & SMERF segments.
  • Prepare and present compelling proposals, negotiate contracts including room blocks, meeting/function space, food & beverage, ancillary services, and events.
  • Work closely with the on-site operations, events/catering, front desk, revenue management and other departments to ensure seamless transition from contract to implementation.
  • Monitor, track and report on lead status, bookings, pick-up, attrition, cancellations, and revenue performance for MICE & SMERF segments.
  • Use CRM/Sales & Catering systems to manage leads, opportunities, contracts and client communications.
  • Attend virtual (and occasionally physical) trade shows, industry conferences, site inspections, sales presentations and networking events relevant to MICE & SMERF.
  • Ensure that client expectations are clearly communicated to on-site teams and that service delivery meets or exceeds standards, thereby supporting repeat business.
  • Analyze market trends, competition, event-industry changes and segment-demand patterns to adjust strategy and remain competitive.
  • Collaborate with marketing/communications teams to develop promotional materials, campaigns, and content targeting MICE & SMERF business.
  • Work flexible hours to accommodate time-zones differences (UAE vs US) and availability for client communication, site tours, etc.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ sales experience in group/events/MICE & SMERF segments in the hospitality industry (resort or hotel environment).
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets in these segments and closing contracts for group business.
  • Deep understanding of the MICE & SMERF markets: how associations, educational/training groups, social/military/fraternal groups plan events, book venues, negotiate terms.
  • Excellent communication (written & verbal) in English. Additional languages are a plus in a UAE-based remote role.
  • Strong negotiation and contract-management skills.
  • Comfortable working remotely: self-motivated, disciplined, able to coordinate across teams and time zones.
  • Proficiency in CRM and Sales & Catering software, Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint), event-management systems.
  • Excellent organization, ability to manage multiple leads/accounts, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and multitask.
  • Analytical mindset: able to interpret sales data, segment performance, forecast revenue, identify opportunities.
  • Ability to travel occasionally (if required) for trade shows, site visits or client meetings.

Compensation & Benefits (UAE Market Adaptation)

  • Salary range: AED 12,000 – 15,000/month (based on experience) + performance-based incentives/commission tied to MICE & SMERF revenue targets.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Number of MICE & SMERF leads generated and qualified.
  • Conversion rate from lead → contract → actualised event.
  • Number of group/event room nights booked and actualised for MICE & SMERF.
  • Revenue achieved for MICE & SMERF segments (rooms + function space + F&B + ancillary).
  • Average rate (room and F&B) for group business vs target/budget.
  • Client satisfaction / feedback from MICE & SMERF events leading to repeat business.
  • Accuracy and timeliness of reporting and forecasting.
  • Responsiveness and collaboration with on-site teams and remote stakeholders.

Working Hours

  • Evenings / Night shifts required to align with US clients and teams, typically 9 hour shifts per day
  • Weekend or holiday work may be required when large group bookings or premium events occur

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED12,000.00 - AED15,000.00 per month
