Assistant Director of School Operations & Student Success

Position Overview

Maranathan Academy is seeking a highly motivated, mission-driven educational leader to serve as the Assistant Director of School Operations & Student Success. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Assistant Director provides day-to-day leadership that promotes academic excellence, positive student culture, operational effectiveness, and student success throughout the school.

This position combines instructional responsibilities with school leadership. The Assistant Director will teach secondary English courses while serving as the school's primary leader for student engagement, student accountability, relationship-building, and the daily management of student conduct. Working collaboratively with faculty, families, and community partners, the Assistant Director will help create a structured, supportive learning environment where students are challenged to meet high expectations academically, behaviorally, and personally.

The ideal candidate is a visible, approachable leader who possesses exceptional interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and a passion for mentoring young people. Maranathan Academy welcomes candidates with leadership experience in education, military service, law enforcement, juvenile justice, youth development, or related fields who are committed to developing students through consistency, accountability, and meaningful relationships.

Primary Responsibilities

Student Leadership & School Climate

· Serve as the school's primary leader for student conduct, behavior management, and accountability.

· Build positive, consistent relationships with students through daily visibility, engagement, and mentorship.

· Promote a safe, orderly, respectful, and supportive learning environment.

· Develop proactive strategies that encourage positive student behavior and reinforce high expectations.

· Meet with students and families regarding behavioral concerns, attendance, academic progress, and intervention plans.

· Coordinate student intervention plans in collaboration with teachers, counselors, and support staff.

· Monitor student attendance, behavior, and overall school climate to identify trends and recommend improvements.

Academic & Instructional Responsibilities

· Teach secondary English Language Arts courses.

· Develop engaging lessons that strengthen students' literacy, writing, communication, and critical thinking skills.

· Assess student learning and provide timely feedback to students and families.

· Collaborate with faculty to support student achievement and instructional excellence.

· Participate in curriculum planning, instructional improvement initiatives, and professional development.

Leadership & School Operations

· Assist the Executive Director in the daily leadership and operation of Maranathan Academy.

· Support faculty through coaching, collaboration, and problem-solving.

· Assist with campus supervision before, during, and after the instructional day.

· Coordinate school assemblies, testing, special events, and student activities.

· Assist with emergency procedures, school safety planning, and crisis response.

· Participate in strategic planning and implementation of school-wide initiatives.

· Represent Maranathan Academy professionally during meetings, community events, and partnership activities.

Family & Community Engagement

· Develop meaningful partnerships with parents and guardians.

· Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, behavior, attendance, and school expectations.

· Support student recruitment, enrollment, and retention efforts.

· Collaborate with community organizations to strengthen resources available to students and families.

· Serve as a positive ambassador for Maranathan Academy throughout the community.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

· Ability to teach secondary-level English courses.

· Demonstrated leadership experience in schools, youth-serving organizations, nonprofit programs, law enforcement, military service, juvenile justice, or related settings.

· Experience supporting student behavior, accountability, mentoring, conflict resolution, or youth development.

· Strong relationship-building skills with students, families, faculty, and community partners.

· Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining professionalism, fairness, discretion, and sound judgment.

· Demonstrated alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Maranathan Academy.

Preferred Qualifications

· Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Youth Development, Counseling, or a related field.

· Background in law enforcement, school resource services, or a juvenile detention or juvenile justice facility.

· Current or former service in the United States Armed Forces with demonstrated leadership experience.

· Experience working with at-risk youth or students facing academic, behavioral, emotional, or social challenges.

· Experience implementing restorative practices, behavior intervention strategies, conflict resolution, crisis management, or school safety initiatives.

· Experience supervising staff, leading teams, or coordinating school-wide or youth development programs.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to move throughout the campus during the school day.

· Ability to supervise students in classrooms, hallways, common areas, outdoor spaces, and during extracurricular activities.

· Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

· Ability to respond effectively during emergency situations or student crises.

Compensation

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Pay: $45,488.66 - $54,782.04 per year
