Company Description

The duty of the District Attorney's Office is to represent the State of Mississippi in all felony criminal matters coming before the Circuit Court of the Eleventh Circuit Court District, and to seek justice for the citizens within the district.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for an Assistant District Attorney located in Clarksdale, MS. The responsibilities include prosecuting criminal cases in court, participating in legal research, and collaborating with law enforcement agencies. This attorney will be required to prosecute felony cases primarily in Coahoma and Tunica counties, but may assist in any part of the district as necessary. Travel within the district is required. The role involves preparing legal documents, presenting evidence, and advocating for justice on behalf of the State of Mississippi. Additionally, the Assistant District Attorney will handle pre-trial negotiations, engage with victims and witnessess, and participate in courtroom proceedings to uphold the rule of law and public safety. Salary based upon experience and statutory provisions. Great opportunity to gain real time courtroom experience.

Qualifications

  • Bar admission and licensure to practice law in Mississippi
  • Understanding and knowledge in Criminal Law
  • Ability to analyze cases, prepare legal documentation and provide legal counsel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to make effective legal arguments and decisions
  • Prior experience in criminal law preferred but not required
  • Commitment to ethical standards and public service
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work collaboratively with legal teams and law enforcement agencies

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
