Assistant Editor

Job Summary
We are seeking a meticulous and technically savvy post-production professional with an eye for visual precision. Comfortable in DaVinci Resolve and Avid, you thrive in fast-paced environments where deadlines are tight and details matter. With a collaborative spirit and a can-do attitude, you seamlessly bridge the creative and technical worlds—ensuring every frame, cue, and color grade meets the highest standards. You’re the first to review the footage and shape the creative vision, and the final safeguard before delivery—taking ownership of quality, consistency, and efficiency at every stage.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Editors and Assistant Editors to log footage, prepare stringouts and cutdowns, and support online/conform round-trip workflows for final finishing.
  • Ingest, organize, and distribute production footage; manage secure delivery of cuts and assets to studio clients via platforms such as Aspera and Frame.io.
  • Perform comprehensive quality control on all digital content (video, graphics, audio, and multimedia assets) to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with technical specifications and brand guidelines.
  • Prepare and output final deliverables for internal review and client distribution.
  • Partner closely with creative, production, and post teams to incorporate client feedback and execute revisions in fast-paced, evolving environments.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of technical delivery requirements, including luminance levels, color space standards, aspect ratios, title-safe guidelines, texted/textless versions, and other broadcast/platform specifications.
  • Quality check edited video packages in partnership with post producers, supervisors, and coordinators to identify and resolve visual or technical issues prior to final delivery.
  • Maintain organized project file structures, backup systems, and archiving processes to ensure secure storage and efficient asset retrieval.
  • Ensure project management systems (e.g., Trello) are consistently updated and communicate status changes to producers and post supervisors.
  • Proactively communicate project developments, potential issues, and timelines to the Post Supervisor and relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain working knowledge of TPN and MPAA guidelines and ensure compliance throughout post-production workflows.
  • Execute departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, workflows, and delivery standards.
  • Stay current on industry trends, tools, and emerging technologies in post-production and online editing.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects with precision, ensuring deadlines are met and no deliverables fall through the cracks.
  • Foster clear interdepartmental communication and contribute to a positive, solutions-oriented team culture.
  • Support cross-functional teams and take on additional duties as assigned to ensure overall company success.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional attention to detail with a comprehensive understanding of end-to-end post-production workflows.
  • Strong collaborator who thrives within a finishing team environment, working alongside editors, colorists, producers, mixers, and coordinators.
  • Solid understanding of conform workflows, including EDLs, XMLs, AAFs, and the transition from offline to online editing.
  • Proficient in file-based workflows, including project setup, import/export settings, media management, timeline prep for color, and final delivery packaging.
  • Deep understanding of HD and UHD formats, proxy workflows, varying frame rates, and platform-specific technical specifications.
  • Ability to strictly adhere to established folder structures, naming conventions, and asset management protocols.
  • Working knowledge of studio content security standards, including MPAA and Trusted Partner Network (TPN) compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and project management platforms such as Trello.

Professional Attributes:

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute under tight, deadline-driven conditions while maintaining technical accuracy and high creative standards.
  • Self-starter who can take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including professional email etiquette.
  • Highly organized, responsive, punctual, and dependable.
  • Creative problem solver with a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude and willingness to contribute at all levels — no task too small.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as business needs require.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, creative agency environment where on-time delivery of technically precise material is essential.
