Assistant Editor

Job description:

Professional Sports Publications is seeking an Assistant Editor to join an editorial department that produces licensed sports publications and industry-focused marketing periodicals. This will be a full-time, in-person position based out of our Manhattan office.

Responsibilities include:

• Editing copy, fact-checking, organizing and proofing layouts
• Organizing various text and photo assets
• Communicating and coordinating with clients
• Photo research and procurement
• Proofing advertisements
• Researching and occasional writing of sports statistics/stories

Skills desired:

• Working knowledge of desktop publishing suite: Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat
• Strong background in research
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Editorial eye for detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• AP Style and general sports knowledge preferred
• Familiarity with book production and prepress process
