Job Description
Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, the Assistant Facilities Director supports the overall planning, organization, and management of district facilities operations. This position plays a key role in maintaining safe, efficient, and compliant facilities by overseeing motor pool, custodial, grounds, and maintenance functions, as well as construction, remodeling, and compliance programs. The Assistant Facilities Director ensures the accuracy and accessibility of Safety Data Sheets (SDS), updates safety manuals and policies, and communicates effectively with employees to identify and address safety concerns.

Required Qualifications
  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic and socio-economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff

Desirable Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree or relevant equivalent work experience
  • One year of experience in a supervisory role
  • Community College experience preferred
  • Five years of responsible experience in auto mechanics and building repair/maintenance, equivalent to the Maintenance Specialist II classification at the Feather River Community College District

Essential Duties
  • Assist the Director in the planning, organization, management, and oversight of facilities construction, remodeling, maintenance, and operations activities at the college, including custodial, grounds, and maintenance functions.
  • Monitors new constructions and scheduled maintenance projects, including all phases from initial concept to project close-out.
  • Develops Requests for Proposals (RFP’s), Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), and Invitations for Bid for facilities-related consultant, capital outlay, and maintenance projects; participates in vendor selections, including the development of scoring criteria, proposal evaluations, and interviews.
  • Works with the Director of Facilities and District staff to ensure that campus events and activities are coordinated.
  • Assists in budget administration; coordinates, prepares, and manages assigned budget; prepares and processes budget transfers and augmentations, invoices, independent contracts, and requisitions. Reconciles budget for accuracy; resolves budget issues and problems; tracks purchases and deliveries; coordinates, requests, and reviews price quotes. Meets fiscal deadlines and completes end-of-year processes.
  • Coordinates the completion of all mandated Federal, State, and Local compliance actions regarding hazmat use/storage/disposal/reporting for all campuses, including but not limited to the development and implementation of the Hazardous Materials Plan and Chemical Hygiene plan.
  • Directs and coordinates the removal and disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations; ensures proper documentation as required by law and District policies.
  • Works with vendors to obtain prices, place orders, and sign for department supplies and equipment.
  • Oversees decisions regarding the extent and type of repairs required for individual pieces of equipment. Research and provides cost estimates for automotive and equipment repairs.
  • Assigns mechanics to inspect, diagnose, repair, replace, adjust, and tune a wide range of vehicles, equipment, and related components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
  • Assists with CERS hazardous materials inventory reporting.
  • Reviews, prints, processes, organizes, and closes safety-related work orders.
  • Updates, maintains and ensures compliance of safety data sheets and asbestos management plans
  • Assists with Department of State Architect (DSA) paperwork and compliance reports
  • Assesses and provides direct support to all District structures and landscapes
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of site safety plans
  • Prepares and presents oral and written reports; prepares and maintains records
  • Ensures compliance with district expectations and regulations
  • Assists, plans and organizes in-service training activities for staff
  • Assists with Motor Pool scheduling, purchasing and management.
  • Assists in purchasing as related to facilities and Motor Pool
  • Act as Director in the absence of the Director of Facilities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

$82,912 - $101,686 / Annually
