Assistant for After School Academy

Job Summary
Point Hope Church in Mount Pleasant, SC is hiring an additional assistant for their After School Academy. As an Assistant, you will help create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children. In this role, you will support program activities led by the Director, assist with classroom management, and foster positive development through interactive learning and play. Your energy and commitment will contribute to enriching the educational experience for students while ensuring their safety and well-being. This paid position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in young lives every day. The hours are 3-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and additional hours on half days and teacher work days. The pay is $16/hr. Please submit resumes to the church office.

Duties

• Assist with classroom management to maintain a positive, organized, and respectful environment for children of various ages
• Supervise children during indoor activities, outdoor play, snack times, and transitions to ensure safety at all times
• Engage children in educational games, arts and crafts, sports, and other enrichment programs to foster creativity and confidence
• Monitor children’s behavior using effective behavior management techniques and provide support for children
• Administer basic first aid when necessary and follow health and safety protocols diligently

Desired Skills

• Experience working with children in daycare, camp, tutoring, or childcare settings
• Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices
• Ability to implement behavior management strategies effectively
• First aid certification or willingness to obtain training upon hire
