An Assistant Foreman supports the Foreman by supervising teams, coordinating daily tasks, ensuring safety compliance, monitoring project progress, and handling administrative duties like reporting, acting as a key link between management and workers to keep projects on track, on time, and within budget while training staff and maintaining a safe, productive worksite.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Supervision: Direct and guide crew members, assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide training, stepping in for the Foreman when needed.
- Project Coordination: Schedule work, coordinate materials, manage equipment, and ensure project phases meet timelines and quality standards.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety protocols, conduct inspections, lead toolbox talks, and promote a strong safety culture.
- Reporting & Administration: Complete daily reports, track time, document progress, and maintain project records.
- Problem Solving: Address immediate issues with workers, equipment, or processes, troubleshooting problems and suggesting solutions.
- Site Management: Keep the job site orderly, manage tools, and act as a company representative to clients.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Prior experience in the relevant field (construction, manufacturing, etc.).
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and project specifications.
- Ability to work in challenging environments and handle physical tasks.
- Computer proficiency for reporting and administrative tasks.
