This position provides legal representation of the University with emphasis on contract review and negotiation. Reports to General Counsel.

Position Duties

  • Special emphasis on contract review and preparation and negotiation of University contracts.
  • Responsible (in consultation with General Counsel and Associate General Counsel) for providing legal advice relative to the contractual aspects of intellectual property, web presence, distance learning, institutional affiliations, procurement, updating and implementation of University policies and procedures pertaining to those issues.
  • Regular contact with officers, administrators, deans, faculty and staff.
  • Performs other such duties as assigned from time to time.

Supervision Exercised

Periodically assigns projects to Staff Legal Assistants, Legal Interns, and Student Aides.


Work Hours

Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with additional hours as needed.

Position Qualifications

  • JD degree, admitted to the New York State Bar (or immediately eligible for admission).
  • Strong academic background, superior oral and written communication skills.
  • At least 5 years of practice in a quality legal environment, with significant experience in practice related to the characteristic duties and responsibilities of the position as described above.
