Assistant General Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Brand Standards & Guest Experience: Ensure the property consistently meets Choice Hotels' brand identity of being "warm and approachable". Personally model the "100% Guest Satisfaction Guarantee" by resolving issues promptly and professionally.
  • Operational Leadership: Manage daily activities for front desk and housekeeping teams. This includes inspecting guest rooms, public spaces, and the heart/dining areas to ensure they meet cleanliness and maintenance standards.
  • Staff Development: Recruit, hire, and train staff on brand-specific programs and Choice Privileges rewards. Lead daily staff huddles and provide ongoing coaching to foster a positive, productive work environment.
  • Financial & Administrative Oversight: Assist the GM with labor monitoring, room expense control, and maintaining inventory levels (PAR). Post checks in the Property Management System (PMS), manage bank deposits, and assist with monthly financial reporting.
  • Revenue & Sales Support: Help maximize Average Daily Rate (ADR) and Occupancy by working with the sales team on local marketing initiatives and in-house guest sales.
  • Manager on Duty: Act as the primary point of contact in the GM’s absence and fulfill regular MOD shifts, including potential coverage for front desk or other departments during peak times or unexpected absences. Choice Hotels International, Inc. - Investor Relations +9

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: At least 2–3 years of supervisory experience in hotel operations. Prior experience with Choice Hotels or other midscale brands (like Marriott, Hilton, or IHG) is highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Hotel Property Management Systems (Choice Hotels often uses choiceADVANTAGE) and Windows-based operating systems.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours and occasionally lift or move up to 50–60 pounds.

Pay: $35,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
