Under KemperSports management, the team delivers consistently well-maintained playing conditions, efficient pace of play, and friendly, solution-oriented guest service. Tournament and league play are core to the operation, and player development programs are supported through clinics, lessons, and junior initiatives.
Position Summary
Quarry Pines seeks an Assistant General Manager / Head Golf Professional who will lead daily golf operations (golf shop, outside services, tournaments, instruction) and serve as the property’s second-in-command for overall clubhouse operations. The role is accountable for service standards, staff leadership, merchandising performance, and achieving budgeted financial goals. As AGM, the position supports the GM with opening/closing procedures, cash controls and deposits, expense management, scheduling, basic facilities oversight, and cross-department coordination (Golf, F&B, Agronomy).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Golf Operations (Head Golf Professional)
- Implement Company operating, HR, and safety policies for golf operations and outside services.
- Hire, schedule, train, and coach staff; monitor performance, guest service, and productivity; manage overtime prudently.
- Oversee daily operations: open/close procedures, tee sheet management, pace-of-play, guest issue resolution, retail presentation/stock levels, and appearance standards for shop, cart barn, storage, and staging areas.
- Manage cash/credit reconciliation and daily cash flow; ensure accurate POS use and closing reports.
- Assist with annual operating and capital budgets; contribute to monthly forecasts and variance analysis.
- Lead merchandising: purchase planning, receiving, pricing, display, sales, promotions, and monthly inventory with accurate cost accounting.
- Design and track sales incentives to meet retail revenue and margin goals.
- Track rounds, segment mix, and pace; monitor guest preferences and satisfaction; recommend service and speed-of-play improvements.
- Deliver exceptional guest interactions in person and via phone; ensure calls are answered promptly and professionally.
- Plan and conduct private lessons, group instruction, clinics, and player-development programs.
- Coordinate tournaments/leagues with associations and groups; ensure seamless integration with cart services and Food & Beverage.
- Ensure ancillary services (handicapping, range operations, guest programs) are organized, accurate, and guest-friendly.
- Represent the Club and Company in meetings/presentations as needed; support market analysis and due-diligence requests.
- Prepare and submit required operational and financial reports accurately and on time.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and best practices.
Club Operations (Assistant General Manager)
- Execute opening and closing procedures for the business, including alarm codes, facility walkthroughs, and end-of-day lockout.
- Oversee cash handling and deposits: safe counts, change orders, bank drops, cash controls, and audit readiness.
- Support budget management: revenue/expense tracking, invoice approvals and coding, payroll review vs. budget, and COGS oversight (Retail; coordination with F&B).
- Partner with F&B leadership on event execution, banquet logistics, and cross-utilization of staff where appropriate.
- Assist with vendor relationships, ordering cadence, preventative maintenance scheduling, and basic facilities coordination (work orders/quotes).
- Maintain compliance with policies, trainings, and regulatory requirements (e.g., alcohol service, safety, HR onboarding paperwork and recordkeeping).
- Lead or support clubhouse scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage during peak demand, special events, and weather impacts.
- Champion a positive culture grounded in KemperSports’ TrueService standards; recognize performance and address issues promptly.
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree preferred.
- PGA or LPGA Class A credentials preferred.
- Prior management experience preferred (golf or hospitality).
- Demonstrated capability in fiscal management (budgets, forecasting, variance analysis), staff leadership, and merchandising.
- Proven guest-service mindset; strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency with POS, tee sheet, MS Office/Google Workspace; comfort with reporting and basic data analysis.
- Ability to solve problems, prioritize, and handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; availability to work flexible hours, including nights/weekends/holidays as needed.
