Assistant General Manager (Hourly Management)

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant General Manager (AGM) to join our hospitality team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive food service management experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee daily operations, support staff development, and ensure the highest standards of food safety and service quality in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience in quick service, fine dining, or casual dining settings is highly desirable, along with a background in restaurant management and team supervision.

Duties

  • Assist the General Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations, including food preparation, kitchen management, and customer service.
  • Supervise and train staff to ensure adherence to food safety standards, POS procedures (Aloha POS, Micros POS), and hospitality protocols.
  • Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies, monitoring stock levels, and minimizing waste.
  • Oversee shift management by coordinating schedules, ensuring smooth service flow during peak hours, and handling cash transactions accurately.
  • Support food production processes such as catering, banquet events, bar service, and coffee/Barista operations as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations across all areas of the restaurant.
  • Assist onboarding new team members; participate in staff training & development initiatives.
  • Collaborate on budgeting, cost control, and operational planning to optimize restaurant performance.
  • Lead by example in delivering excellent customer service and maintaining a welcoming environment for guests.

Qualifications

  • Proven management experience within the food industry, including supervising teams in quick service or fine dining establishments.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and food handling procedures.
  • Experience with POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability in inventory control, budgeting, and food management.
  • Excellent leadership skills with a track record of staff training & development.
  • Background in hospitality management with experience in restaurant or hotel settings is advantageous.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle challenging situations professionally.
  • Prior assistant manager or supervisory experience in a restaurant environment is required.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure during busy shifts while maintaining attention to detail. This position offers a rewarding environment for professionals passionate about culinary excellence and team leadership within the hospitality industry.

Pay: $28–$32 per hour (DOE) + overtime
(This is an hourly assistant management position)

More about us: Café de Olla is a family owned restaurant. We started our business in 2015 in Burbank, CA and quickly became the communities favorite place for Mexican/American Food. December 2020 we opened this location in the beautiful Old Town Monrovia and are now ready to welcome a leader who can take this store to the next level.

We serve hundreds of guest daily and our wait times now consist of 1.5 to 2 hours’ on weekends and some weekdays as well. Café de Olla is growing restaurant company with a great vision and many amazing opportunities.

Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
