Assistant Group Teacher

Assistant Teacher – Early Childhood (NYC DOH Qualified) Immediate Hire

Hearts and Minds Daycare is seeking qualified Assistant Teachers to support our early childhood classrooms. This role is ideal for candidates who already meet or are actively working toward NYC DOH Article 47 requirements and have experience working with young children.

Responsibilities

• Support the Group Teacher with daily classroom activities and routines
• Assist with lesson preparation and learning center setup
• Supervise children to ensure safety and engagement
• Support meals, toileting, and transitions
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary classroom
• Follow all NYC DOH health, safety, and supervision regulations

Duties may vary based on classroom and program needs.

Qualifications (NYC DOH Article 47)

Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 1 year experience working with young children in a childcare or preschool setting

Preferred

• CDA credential or at least 9 college credits in Early Childhood Education / Child Development
• Actively enrolled in coursework toward an ECE credential or degree

Certifications & Clearances

• CPR/First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
• NYC DOH background clearance
• Ability to meet health requirements (TB, immunizations)

Compensation

• Starting at $18/hour
