Assistant Housing Maintenance Mechanic

Job Overview
The Village of Nyack Housing Authority (VONHA) is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Assistant Maintenance Mechanic to perform work in one or more trade areas involving the maintenance of apartment buildings.

Responsibilities

• Performs a wide-variety of duties in the maintenance and minor construction of buildings and appurtenances, public work structures and equipment, and other motorized or mechanical equipment repair.
• Performs diagnostic testing and troubleshoots maintenance problems.
• Confers with supervisors on maintenance, repair, construction, and operational needs.
• Performs unit inspections.
• Prepares vacant units for future move-ins
• Performs routing cleaning of the premises.
• Requisitions materials applicable to the trade skill (i.e. mechanical equipment, carpentry and electrical parts, repair supplies).
• Maintains supplies, tools, and shop area.
• Maintains records of maintenance.
• Performs duties such as grounds work, cleaning, snow and ice removal on an emergency basis or as assigned.
• Operates work vehicles and heavy equipment to the trade area and maintenance assignment.
• Performs semi-skilled maintenance work in other craft fields as assigned.
• Performs on-call duty and/or overtime as assigned.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years of construction and/or building maintenance experience in one or more of the trade skills listed below preferred.

Notes: High school vocational training, technical school training, or formal apprenticeship training in a trade skill may be substituted for the required experience in a year-for-year basis.

At the time of application, possession of a valid driver's license appropriate to the kind and size of motor vehicle must be maintained throughout the course of employment.
