Assistant Infant Teacher

Lakewood Child Care Center is a NAEYC Accredited, Gold rated, nurturing and engaging early childhood education center dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment for infants and young children. We are looking for a caring and reliable Assistant Infant Teacher to join our team.

Position Summary:
The Assistant Infant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in caring for infants (ages 6 weeks to 14 months), ensuring their safety, comfort, and developmental growth. This role involves hands-on caregiving, classroom support, and building positive relationships with children and families.

Responsibilities

  • Implementing age-appropriate activities that promote infant development, including sensory play, motor skills, and social interaction.
  • Support daily routines such as feeding, diapering, nap time, and hygiene with patience and care.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment by following health and safety protocols diligently.
  • Observe and document individual infant progress, behaviors, and milestones to inform personalized care plans.
  • Engage with children through nurturing caregiving techniques that foster trust and emotional security.
  • Support classroom management by helping establish routines that promote positive behavior and social skills.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and team members to ensure consistent care and share developmental updates.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; CDA or early childhood coursework preferred
  • Experience working with infants or in a childcare setting is a plus
  • Knowledge of child development principles
  • Patient, nurturing, and dependable personality
  • Prior experience working with infants or in early childhood education settings is preferred.
  • Knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices for infant care.
  • Strong understanding of classroom management techniques tailored for infants and toddlers.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining a caring demeanor.
  • Passion for nurturing young children’s growth through engaging activities, caregiving, and behavior management strategies.

Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
