Job Overview

Are you passionate about education and helping children build a strong foundation for their future? Join our Kumon center as an Assistant, where you’ll have the opportunity to foster academic growth and inspire confidence in young learners.

We are currently accepting applications for positions starting near the end of the school year or at the beginning of summer. This is an excellent opportunity for students, educators, or anyone seeking meaningful, part-time work during this period.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide individualized attention to Early Learners (ages 3-6) in a one-on-one or small group setting.
  • Guide students through Kumon worksheets in math and reading, ensuring proper understanding and completion.
  • Encourage a love for learning by using a patient, supportive, and motivational approach.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, offering constructive feedback.
  • Assist with organizational tasks, such as grading worksheets and maintaining student records.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Think quickly and problem-solve on the fly to support student learning effectively.

We’re seeking an individual who is not only skilled academically but also deeply invested in student success.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Educational Skills: Strong mental arithmetic and reading comprehension skills, equivalent to late high school or early college levels.
  • Professionalism: Maintain a professional demeanor with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Work Ethic: Reliable, responsible, and committed to delivering high-quality instruction.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to adapt and respond effectively to student challenges and learning needs in real-time.
  • Communication & Proactiveness: Able to communicate clearly, ask questions when needed, and take initiative in a fast-paced learning environment.
  • Personal Qualities: A passion for teaching, patience, adaptability, and the ability to work independently in a structured environment.
  • Experience: Previous experience in teaching, tutoring, or working with children is preferred but not required.

Compensation:

  • Hourly wage: $9-$15, depending on qualifications, experience, and performance.
