Position Summary
Lawler Construction, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Interior Designer who will work hand in hand with our in-house Interior Designer in supporting finish selections, design coordination, client presentations, and project organization for custom and spec homes throughout the Verde Valley. This role works closely with our in-house Interior Designer, who holds a degree in Interior Design, while also assisting with select office administrative responsibilities that support our construction team and day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the in-house Interior Designer in the selection of finishes, fixtures, materials, and color schemes for custom and spec homes.
- Assist with documenting finish and fixture selections accurately in internal systems and project files.
- Help prepare design documents, mood boards, drawings, visual aids, and selection summaries for client presentations.
- Prepare and organize selection packages for flooring, cabinetry, countertops, lighting, plumbing fixtures, and other finish materials.
- Help manage design-related timelines, budgets, and schedules.
- Coordinate product pricing, lead times, and orders with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Research materials, products, and market trends for potential use in current and future projects.
- Maintain organized project files, sample inventories, and the design studio/sample library.
- Coordinate with Interior Design, Construction, and Purchasing teams to communicate design selections and updates.
- Visit project sites, model homes, showrooms, and vendor locations as needed to assist with measurements, selections, staging, and installation verification.
- Review plans and option layouts for general accuracy, feasibility, and consistency with design intent.
- Assist with resolving design-related questions or issues during construction.
- Support model home merchandising and staging efforts.
- Provide general administrative and project support to the design and office teams, including forms, supplies, and gathering requested information as needed.
- Help prepare binders, pull and distribute reports, assist with warranty correspondence, support bid requests, and help with start-up paperwork as directed.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or a related field preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience in residential design, construction, a design studio, office administration, or a related field required.
- Basic understanding of residential construction processes, materials, and finish selections.
- Experience in new home construction or homebuilding is a plus.
- Familiarity with flooring, cabinetry, countertops, lighting, plumbing fixtures, and interior finish coordination.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail, and Calendar.
- Experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar programs is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits
- $20.00- $25.00 per hour, DOE
- Weekly pay
